Hi Guys,

What a weekend! Great squash everywhere.

Saturday kicked off with the U9 Squash Festival with 10 youngsters showing we have talent coming through. Guy Withington ran the Festival with his customary skill and "Fun" factor, absolutely brilliant and ably assisted by son Bailey.

While that was going on BU19 kicked off with some great games as did the BU 11 and the GU11. Some really hard, tight games for all. The GU13, GU15 saw some really tough, quality matches with standout performances in all categories.
Saturday winners and finalists:

GU11, Mia Leahey, Finalist, Sophie Seymour-Mead. BU11, winner, Dannish Vine, finalist, Alex Edmed.

GU13 winner, Charlie McCrone finalist, Martha Hodgson.

GU15, winner, Siran Nghiem, finalist, Kara Lawrenson. A terrific day, great squash, great fun.

Sunday saw all the rest of the action from the boys categories: BU19, BU17, BU15 and BU13.
Top entertainment, top squash.

BU19 winner, Carlton Oldham, Finalist Callum Brocklehurst.

BU17 winner, Finnlay Withington, Finalist, Sam Lawrenson.

BU15 winner, Laurence Cull, finalist, Mathew Major.

BU13 winner, Harry Whittles, finalist, Max Cadman.

Lancashire year 9 and year 5 have great results at Northern Cup 2017

 

 

The Northern Cup this year was held at Carlisle Squash Rackets Club and it turned out to be a cracking weekend.

The teams played on Saturday and year 9 won their event while year 5 came 3rd, both terrific results. Team manager Peter Withington said: “ the teams were a credit to Lancashire and show that Junior squash in the county is going from strength to strength.”

Haslingden Juniors help Lancashire to great results at Northern Cup in Carlisle

 

Sunday saw Lancashire year 6 team and year 7 & 8 team to second and third places respectively.

Year 6 team had Jules Macvicar playing at 5th string and he played a blinder: 3 victories out of 4, terrific stuff from Jules with power to burn. The rest of the team: Joel Hodgson, Rayyan, Will Cadman and Feilim Brady had excellent results as well. A super result for the boys.

Year 7 & 8 team had four Haslingden players: Aiden Price, Oscar Hartley, Oliver Baynes and Finn Mcvicker. Max Cadman, from 315 was also in the team.
Aiden and Oscar both made their debut in competitive squash and played some super stuff throughout the day. In the playoffs for 3rd place, both Oscar and Finlay came back from being behind in their matches to record great wins.

A super day for all, players, parents and supporters, come on Hasi!!

Youngsters celebrate national success at Under 11 Championships

Youngsters Alexander Broadbridge and Charlie McCrone had a day to remember as they became national squash champions at just ten years of age.The schoolchildren claimed the boys’ and girls’ titles at the English U11 Championships in Sheffield with dominant 3-0 final wins, beating the finest competition from around the country. Centre of Excellence unveiled for deaf children

The England Squash Foundation has teamed up with UK Deaf Sport to promote and nurture sporting excellence in disabled children.Four clubs in England have been selected to develop deaf squash for youngsters in primary schools as part of the DEAFinitely Inclusive initiative.
Leyland Lions Junior Squash and Racketball Club, based near Preston, was approached by the Foundation to create a Centre of Excellence for deaf children of primary school age in the North West. Read more
